⚠️ SPOILER — core story secret, do not reveal early

The truth

You are not a person. You are an Entity of the Affected Region — a prototype of something it would use to spread into the world.

Except it made you too perfect. You are a person rather than a puppet.

Design implications

  • "Abilities" are a core mechanic — they should feel like they come from what you are, not from gear or training
  • The reveal must land late-game; early game should play as straight survival
  • Foreshadowing without spoiling: abilities manifest in ways the player rationalizes ("adrenaline"? "the zone changing me"?) until the truth clicks
  • The bakelite phone (see #5) could be the Region itself trying to understand what it made — or trying to take it back

Open questions

  • What are the abilities, mechanically? (movement? perception? anomaly interaction?)
  • How do they unlock/progress? (story-gated? usage-based?)
  • Does the player get a choice at the reveal — embrace what you are, or reject it?
  • How does "too perfect" manifest in gameplay before the reveal? (NPCs reacting oddly? anomalies not harming you correctly?)
