Echo Legion / Warpforged - Quick Reference

Core Faction Identity

  • Name: Echo Legion (Original) / Warpforged (Alternative to avoid Vostroya confusion)
  • Origin: Lost world Vestroya/Orelis Prime (pre-Age of Strife forge world)
  • Status: Evolved humans with Warp-granted abilities, but staunchly materialist
  • Philosophy: "The Calculus of Steel" - only believe in provable material truths

Key Abilities

  • Warpstride: Short-range teleportation (30ft max in realspace, unlimited in Warp)
  • Reality Anchor: Mental resistance to Chaos corruption due to materialist beliefs
  • Hyper-Cognition: Enhanced battlefield awareness, processes information like a "video game"
  • Momentum Control: Can reverse direction mid-teleport without inertia effects

Three Armor Tiers (ESSENTIAL)

  1. Light Exo-Armor (Las-powered)

    • Role: Skirmishers/Assault
    • Weapons: Echo Pattern Lasguns (high damage close range, falloff at distance)
    • Melee: Scaled-down chainblades, power daggers, mono-swords
    • Mobility: Maximum agility, fastest teleportation
  2. Medium Exo-Armor (Volkite-powered)

    • Role: Fire Support/Tactical Response
    • Weapons: Echo Pattern Volkite weapons, long-range las
    • Melee: "Get-off-me" weapons (shock batons, compact knives)
    • Mobility: Balanced, hover capability
  3. Heavy Exo-Armor (Plasma-powered)

    • Role: Frontline Breakers/Defensive Bastions
    • Weapons: Either suppressive ranged OR sword-and-shield melee focus
    • Melee: Powered warblades and shields (if melee variant)
    • Mobility: Controlled charges, strongest thrusters

Technology Notes

  • Modular but Limited: Cross-compatibility between armor types has drawbacks
    • Volkite thrusters on Las systems = excessive power consumption
    • Las thrusters on Volkite systems = rapid burnout
    • Plasma components incompatible with other systems
  • Field Repairable: Unlike Astartes gear, designed for screwdriver-level maintenance
  • Three Intact STCs: Complete functional units, not fragments
  • No Warp-Field Tech: Refuse to use anything that can't be "proven"

Relationships

  • Imperium: Neutral but wary - not enemies, not allies
  • Mechanicus: Complex - initially heretical, grudgingly work together due to STCs
  • Chaos: View Chaos Gods as "immaterial lies" - see effects but not beings themselves
  • Astartes: First contact involved presenting protected geneseed/artifact to prove loyalty

Philosophy: "The Constants"

  • The Forge Unbroken (Durability of metal)
  • The First Bullet (Ballistic certainty)
  • The Eternal Flame (Power of combustion)
  • NOT gods - just personified concepts to reinforce materialist beliefs

Key Story Elements

  • Made vow to protect geneseed/artifact when last defenders fell
  • Colony ship built with 3 STCs when they left their world
  • Tech-priests from original world now serve as historians/educators in colonies
  • Time dilation: Few thousand years for them = potentially pre-Age of Strife disappearance
  • Prefer energy weapons but appreciate kinetics
  • Some have trouble processing realspace after Warp-birth

Combat Doctrine

  • Hyper-mobility focused
  • Precision strikes over brute force
  • Teleportation used for flanking, momentum shifts, and tactical repositioning
  • Enhanced perception allows predictive combat
  • Battlefield roles clearly defined by armor type

Naming Issues to Address

  • "Vestroya" too close to canon "Vostroya"
  • Need pre-Astartes faction to have sworn oath to (Mechanicum Protectorate, Thunder Warriors, etc.)
  • Alternative planet names: Orelis Prime, Daskara, Velkaris, etc.
  • Alternative faction names: Warpforged, Riftborn, Iron Calculus, etc.
