Merith-TK: Alright read over the lore in all the files, I want you to make inferences and ask clearifying questions regarding things you need more information on.
This is set in the Destiny 2 universe, Spartan-2 is the Lightbearer who rised after Spartan-1, I want to flesh out this lore and make it better suited.
The fulcrums oath is something more recent in the lore, of Spartan-2 taking the hives dogma and twisiting it against them, instead of taking or cutting, forcing his truths onto theirs, he instead questions and offers truths instead, gives freely than force. (can be properly analysed from the fulcrums oath)
Generate two files, these files will be yours to keep, a notes file for quick reference for yourself, you are to keep this updated with information you find relevant and edit as nessecary, and a second "action log" file that acts as a tracked summery of our converstation, put files for you in .copilot/,
GitHub Copilot: I'll start by reading through all the existing lore files to understand the full context, then create the organizational files and ask clarifying questions. Now let me read the Fulcrum's Oath and Spartan-1 files to understand the complete lore context: Now I'll create the organizational files and ask clarifying questions based on my analysis of the lore.

Analysis and Clarifying Questions
After reading through all the lore files, I can see a rich foundation with some fascinating philosophical elements. The progression from Spartan-1's pure survival instinct to Spartan-2's principled rejection of dogma is compelling. Here are my key observations and questions:
Strong Lore Elements I've Identified:
- The Fulcrum's Oath perfectly captures the anti-sword logic philosophy - it's a beautiful inversion where instead of "I take/cut," it becomes "I offer/choose"
- Spartan-1's story provides excellent tragic backstory with his Vex temporal scarring and final choice of death over mind-wipe
- The Knights' rogue Vex mind creates interesting parallels with Spartan-1's Vex experiences
Key Questions I Need Clarification On:
1. Spartan-1 to Spartan-2 Connection:
- Is Spartan-2 a resurrection of Spartan-1 by a Ghost, or a completely different Guardian who took on the name?
- If it's a resurrection, how does that work with Spartan-1's destroyed core? Did the Ghost somehow reconstruct him from his scattered neural patterns?
- If it's a new Guardian, what inspired them to take the "Spartan" name and carry on the legacy?
2. Timeline and Knights Formation:
- When did Spartan-2 join or help found the Knights of the Coalition?
- Did the Knights exist before Spartan-2, or did his philosophy help shape the organization?
- How does the Fulcrum's Oath relate to the Knights' willingness to conduct grey-operations?
3. Vex Connections:
- Is there a connection between Spartan-1's Vex "scarring" and the Knights' rogue Vex mind?
- Could Spartan-1's anti-temporal manipulation abilities have somehow influenced or created the rogue Vex mind?
- Does Spartan-2 inherit any of these Vex-resistance traits?
4. Operational Philosophy:
- How does Spartan-2's rejection of all dogma (including Light's mercy) mesh with the Knights operating "within the Light"?
- Does the Fulcrum's Oath represent Spartan-2's personal philosophy or something adopted more broadly by the Knights?
5. Character Development:
- What class is Spartan-2? (The Fulcrum's Oath mentions glaive, rifle, and fist - suggesting perhaps Titan with various weapons?)
- What are some specific examples of Spartan-2's grey-operations or philosophical choices in action?
Which of these areas would you like to develop first? I'm particularly interested in the Spartan-1/Spartan-2 connection and how that ties into the broader Knights mythology.
Merith-TK: Spartan-2 is a resurrection of Spartan-1 by a ghost, from my understanding of the lore a ghost doesnt need the "whole body", and even if it did, all the parts where there anyways. A ghost ressurection like that, typically for almost every single guardian, excluding a very small amount of outliers, looses their memory, Spartan-2 regained this shortly after, we can cover that in a bit
- Spartan-2 was a founding member of the Knights, as a Titan he felt a strong urge to protect and aid, however as someone who struggled with his identity, being a Lightbearer who almost exclusively used Darkness powers, he struggled with this until the most recent campaign, where, out of character, the game bugged out and gave me the beginning new-light (new player) questline again where you commune with the traveler'so I took that, and wrote it into the story of the traveler

The Fulcrums Oath was something created when Savathun's Sister, Xivu Urath, the hive god of war, came back for a fragment that contained a "image" of Oryx, Spartan-2 knew what was at stake if she got ahold of Oryx, even the lesser copy that they had, as they had found the Tablets of Ruin, an itme that lets someone "Take", to create the Taken, another aspect of the Hives philosophy and beleifs.
- Spartan-2. Does. Not. Like. The. Vex. Mind. It is intense residual PTSD from Spartan-1 getting trapped for so long, I beleive i have noted in the original lore that Spartan-1 was in there so long aspects of the Vex programming and circuitry were litterally burned into his own, making him able to interact with vex technology in ways no one else can, however this is a very SEVERE PTSD response,
The in game season before this the Fulcrums Oath was made, he was facing a copy of Maya Sunderesh, who had integrated herself with the Vex network using a fragment (again, will get you more information on these later)
-
The Fulcrums Oath is something of his own, its his own oath against the Hive Gods, but also something that is made to evolve as nessecary, His rejection of all dogma is a regection of being told to just accept it, he will accept what he beleives true, he will accept what he needs to, but the only truth he accepts, is his own. He will offer it to others, however unlike the Hive, whos logic and dogma he is twisting back in on itself, he offers, does not force
-
Spartan-2 is indeed a Titan! I will get back to you on more of his backstory and development, as this is something we will be working on together
I have moved the original lore content to .reference/
instead of other/
, this is reference material and is readonly
GitHub Copilot: Perfect! This clarifies so much. Let me update my notes and action log with this crucial information, then ask some follow-up questions about the fascinating connections you've revealed.

Key Clarifications Received - Fascinating Developments!
This adds incredible depth to the lore! The psychological complexity is really compelling - a Titan who uses Darkness powers, founding a Light-aligned organization, while dealing with severe Vex PTSD from inherited memories. The recent Traveler communion as a resolution to his identity crisis is beautiful.
Follow-up Questions Based on Your Clarifications:
1. Memory Recovery Mechanism:
- How did Spartan-2 regain Spartan-1's memories? Was it gradual or sudden?
- Did it happen through Ghost interaction, Vex circuitry activation, or something else?
- Does he experience them as his own memories or as inherited/foreign ones?
2. Operational Tensions:
- How do the Knights handle having their most valuable asset (rogue Vex mind) being something that triggers their founding member's severe PTSD?
- Does Spartan-2 refuse to interact with it directly? Do others serve as intermediaries?
- Has this created any internal conflicts within the Knights organization?
3. Darkness Powers & Identity:
- What specific Darkness subclasses/abilities does Spartan-2 favor? (Stasis, Strand, etc.)
- How did other Guardians and the early Knights react to a founding member who primarily used Darkness?
- Was his identity struggle primarily internal, or did it cause external conflicts too?
4. The Fragments & Tablets:
- You mentioned Maya Sunderesh used a "fragment" to integrate with the Vex network, and Xivu Arath sought an Oryx fragment. Are these related to a larger fragment system/technology?
- How do the Tablets of Ruin work differently from traditional Taking abilities?
- Was the threat specifically about Xivu Arath gaining the power to Take, or something more?
5. Timeline Context:
- Roughly where in the Destiny 2 timeline did Spartan-2's resurrection occur? (Post-Red War, during Season of [X], etc.)
- When were the Knights founded relative to major events?
- How recent was the Traveler communion that resolved his identity crisis?
The philosophical framework of the Fulcrum's Oath as an evolving, anti-dogmatic personal truth system is brilliant - it perfectly counters the Hive's rigid sword logic while maintaining the flexibility needed for grey-operations.
Merith-TK: 1) He never technically regained his memories, what he did find was records and logs of who he was before, due to having been an expirental exoframe, They are inherited/foreign, but feel nostolgic, like they once were his, he knows that, but he isnt that person any more,
- They just exist, the VexMind, having proven itself an ally of the Coalition, just exists, and Spartan-2, while uneasy and untrusting, does not have PTSD related issues with it, as his light allows him to overcome vex simulation and temporal manipulation, and he has yet to sense/see the signs of being inside a simulation. He does try to avoid it, as only a very few handful of people in the knights know of its existance he is forced to interact with it from time to time,
- he actually prefers strand, dislikes stasis on principle as it "takes" control, his identity issue was something that was an mix of mosatly internal with a few bits of external, where he looked at others who use the travelers light and shun darkness as people who were simply annoying and not understanding the message the Nine gave them back when the gave us our Prophecy (a dungeon/raid that explains, it doesnt matter what you use)
A few of the new lights who join look at him with fear and confusion, but he proves himself to everyone that he is fine how he is,
- So in the end of the Light and Dark saga, we defeated the Witness, I will get you more information on him in a bit, however when we did, the Witness had nearly consumed the Traveler's light in order to bring about "perfection" in the universe, freazing reality into a single moment.
The Tablets of Ruin are an entirely different thing, an artefact that contains the knowledge and power to teach someone how to "Take",
- his ressurection took place shortly before Savathun's return as a lightbearer, he is a new guardian, and his first interaction with the hive was not pretty. Hell his first interaction with the hive lightbearers he felt nothing but understanding of how fragile his own ghost was, as he was a new light at this time he hadnt yet created or felt the bond strong enough with his ghost to realize the horror of what crushing a lightbearer's ghost was.
The Knights were founded when he and his fireteam noticed other lightbearers struggling to learn, as there was no real eductational framework for new lights, just the traveler giving them the warmth and teaching them to use their powers to the bare minimum before letting them commune,
The travelers communion with Spartan-2 was "recent" in the sense that it was before the Witness entered the traveler, before shit went down hill.
GitHub Copilot: Excellent clarifications! This makes the psychological complexity even more compelling. Let me update the notes and action log with these important details.

Perfect! This adds so much depth to Spartan-2's character. The psychological nuance of having records that feel nostalgic but foreign - "once mine, but I'm not that person anymore" - is beautifully complex. And the progression from a New Light who didn't understand the horror of Ghost destruction to creating a philosophy that rejects all forms of "taking" is compelling character development.
Key Insights from These Clarifications:
1. The Educational Mission Origin: The Knights being founded because there was no real educational framework for New Lights is brilliant - it gives them a concrete, noble purpose beyond just being another Guardian faction.
2. Power Philosophy Sophistication:
- Strand = flow, connection, working with forces
- Stasis = control, taking, imposing will
- This aligns perfectly with the Fulcrum's Oath's "offering vs. forcing" philosophy
3. Memory vs. Identity: The distinction between having access to records/experiences but not being defined by them is fascinating. It's like having a previous life's diary - informative but not deterministic.
4. Practical Vex Relationship: The fact that his Light protects him from Vex manipulation, making the rogue Vex mind useful but not terrifying, creates a functional working relationship despite uneasiness.
Follow-up Questions for Future Development:
-
The Records Discovery: Where did Spartan-2 find the Spartan-1 records? Was it in the same location where his body was found, or did he actively seek them out?
-
The Fireteam: Who were his founding fireteam members? Are they still active in the Knights leadership?
-
First Hive Lightbearer Encounter: Was this during a specific campaign/season, or a standalone encounter? What made it so traumatic beyond the Ghost destruction?
-
Rogue Vex Mind Origin: How did the Knights acquire this Vex mind? Is there a connection to Spartan-1's anti-Vex capabilities?
This foundation is really solid for expanding into more detailed character development and organizational lore!
Merith-TK: 1) He was ressurected in the same place where he took his own life, he died in the lab which was quickly abandoned and left behind 2) There is Spartan-2 There is a unamed warlock however most call her "Swarm Mother" because A) she uses strand to create an obsurd swarm of threadlings, and B) she is effective the Mom of the fireteam, taking care of her dumbass titans and healing them (spartan-2 included) There is a third, I am waiting to hear back from the player to tell you who they were,
- Spartan-2 first meeting with a Hivelightbearer, he didnt understand what was so wrong about the Hive having light, because he was new, he had his own light. But how you execute a Lightbearer Hive, is by grabbing their ghost and crushing it in your bare hand, singular hand. And he realized in that moment his ghost was fragile
- I havent actually gotten to that part of developing the lore, lets put that on the backburner for now
GitHub Copilot: Perfect! Let me update the notes with these character details and the powerful first Hive Lightbearer encounter. The "Swarm Mother" sounds like a great character dynamic.

Excellent details! The Ghost fragility realization is such a powerful moment - the transition from naive New Light wondering "what's wrong with Hive having Light?" to the horror of watching a Ghost crushed in someone's bare hand. That's a perfect catalyst for both his protective philosophy and understanding of what's truly at stake.
Key Story Elements I Love:
1. The Abandoned Lab Discovery: Spartan-2 being resurrected in the exact spot where Spartan-1 chose to die, finding the records there - there's beautiful symbolic weight to that. The past literally becomes foundation for the future.
2. "Swarm Mother" Dynamic: The maternal Warlock keeping the "dumbass titans" alive is both humorous and touching. Her threadling swarms + healing role creates a perfect support character, and the family dynamic gives the Knights a very personal foundation.
3. The Ghost Crushing Moment: This is such a visceral, immediate way to understand what makes Hive Lightbearers so wrong. The physical act of crushing something so fragile and precious - that would be deeply traumatic for any Guardian, but especially a New Light.
Implications for Lore Development:
Team Dynamics:
- Spartan-2: The protector/philosopher (Titan)
- Swarm Mother: The caretaker/support (Warlock)
- Third member: (Hunter? Another role?)
Founding Philosophy: Their educational mission makes perfect sense - they experienced the gaps firsthand as New Lights, nearly made dangerous mistakes, and want to prevent others from the same trauma.
Ghost Protection Theme: This could be a recurring theme in Knights operations - not just protecting people, but understanding the fragility of what we hold dear and the horror of losing it.
The fireteam feels very authentic - like real people who've been through trauma together and formed a family unit around mutual protection and care. That's a strong foundation for expanding the Knights' organizational culture.
Merith-TK: Alright, I am working on getting you an dump of the destiny community wiki, so you can have that as a proper reference
GitHub Copilot: Excellent! Having access to a Destiny community wiki dump will be incredibly valuable for maintaining lore accuracy and consistency. That will help me:
-
Verify Timeline Accuracy - Ensure events like Savathûn's return, the Witness crisis, and other major story beats align properly with established Destiny 2 chronology
-
Maintain Canonical Consistency - Cross-reference things like:
- How Ghost resurrections work
- Vex network mechanics and simulation capabilities
- Hive sword logic and Taking abilities
- Light/Dark power interactions
- The Nine's teachings and Prophecy dungeon lore
-
Enhance Detail Accuracy - Better understand:
- Specific seasons and campaigns referenced
- Maya Sundaresh's actual story and Vex integration
- Xivu Arath's motivations and methods
- Tablets of Ruin mechanics vs. standard Taking
-
Expand Contextual Depth - Draw connections to:
- Other Guardian factions and their philosophies
- Established Exo lore and BrayTech history
- Vanguard politics and relationships
- Community reactions to Darkness-using Lightbearers
Made changes.
Perfect! Once you have that wiki dump ready, I'll be able to provide much more detailed and canonically accurate development suggestions. In the meantime, I'm ready to continue working on any aspects of the lore you'd like to expand - whether that's:
- Developing more details about the founding fireteam dynamics
- Exploring specific Knights operations or grey-ops missions
- Fleshing out the philosophical implications of the Fulcrum's Oath
- Creating supporting characters within the Knights organization
- Developing the educational framework they created for New Lights
Just let me know what direction you'd like to take while we wait for the wiki reference material!
Merith-TK: Go over your notes, verify you didnt miss anything we discussed about, I want this to be comprehensive so you dont have to rely on your own token retention, the purpose of the notes files are to explicitly assist in avoiding token rot and imagining details
GitHub Copilot: You're absolutely right - let me thoroughly review our entire conversation against my notes to ensure I captured everything comprehensively. This is critical for avoiding token rot and maintaining accuracy. Now let me cross-reference this against our full conversation to identify any gaps:
MISSING CRITICAL DETAILS I NEED TO ADD:
- Game Bug Integration: You mentioned the New Light questline bug that you turned into lore - the Traveler reaching out "like a parent to a child" with acceptance and love
- Specific Darkness Philosophy: The Nine's Prophecy dungeon/raid taught that "it doesn't matter what you use" (Light vs Dark)
- New Light Reactions: Some New Lights look at Spartan-2 with "fear and confusion" but he proves himself
- Identity Struggle Details: He found others who "use the traveler's light and shun darkness as people who were simply annoying and not understanding the message"
- File Organization: You moved reference materials from
other/
to .reference directory - Xivu Arath Context: She came back for a fragment containing an "image" of Oryx
- Pre-Collapse Background: Spartan-1 was "Pre-Golden Age" not "Pre-Collapse"
- Witness Details: Nearly consumed Traveler's Light to freeze reality into "a single moment"
Let me update the notes with these missing details:
Made changes.

Perfect! I've now comprehensively updated the notes to include all the critical details from our conversation that were missing. The notes now capture:
- Specific Game Integration: The New Light questline bug turned into Traveler communion lore
- Detailed Philosophy: Nine's Prophecy teaching, specific power preferences and reasoning
- Character Reactions: New Light fear/confusion, his view of Light-only users as "annoying"
- Precise Context: Oryx fragment containing an "image", Witness freezing reality into "a single moment"
- File Organization: Reference to directory restructuring
- Character Development: His naivety-to-horror progression with Ghost fragility
The notes should now serve as a comprehensive reference that eliminates reliance on token retention and prevents detail imagination. Everything from our conversation is documented with the specific context and nuance you provided.
Is there anything else from our discussion that you feel should be captured in the notes?
